How are Green Card winners chosen?

All participants of the Green Card Lottery receive a computer-generated confirmation code. Winners are then chosen randomly by a computer-generated program from the U.S. Department of State. Approximately 55,000 applicants around the world receive a Green Card.

If you are among our lucky Green Card Lottery winners, you will receive an official winner notification from the U.S. Department of State as well as a comprehensive guide in English from The American Dream. The guide provides clear instructions on how to fill out the DS-260 form that you must submit to the US authorities online. We also provide you with advice for your appointment which will be scheduled at the US embassy in the country where you live. The list of all documents that you need to bring to the interview is incredibly important to have and we make sure you are prepared for your interview with the right documents: e.g. immigration visa fee, marriage certificates, proper proof of education, police certificates, etc. If your interview at the consulate is successful, your immigration visa will be issued right away.

There is no exact overview of the names of all Green Card winners. Explore the winner statistics from previous Green Card lotteries and find information about the previous year’s winners including how many Green Cards each country received.
