On October 15th, the White House announced that fully vaccinated travelers will be allowed to enter the USA again as of November 8th. AstraZeneca's vaccine is also approved for US entry.
With the announcement of the new travel regulations for fully vaccinated people, the US government will lift the Corona Travel Ban, which former President Donald Trump had imposed as early as 18 months ago.

The announced rule change is a source of joy for countless families and USA lovers around the world. However, it also raises some questions to which the US government will still provide concrete answers in the coming days and weeks. To date, the following information is available to us:
According to a White House statement, fully vaccinated individuals will be allowed to re-enter the country beginning Nov. 8th, 2021.
The US government also plans to introduce a new contact tracking procedure with the new entry regulations. Airlines will be required to record the telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of all US travelers.
It is expected that with the introduction of the new travel regulations, all international travelers, who are fully vaccinated or have overcome an infection, will once again be able to enter the US without detours. This includes travelers from Schengen Area countries, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Brazil, South Africa, China (including Hong Kong and Macau), India, and Iran.
Which vaccines will be accepted? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has notified airlines that all FDA-approved and cleared vaccines and all shots designated as emergency vaccines by WHO are approved for air travel to the United States as of November 8th. Currently approved are:
Cross-vaccination of these vaccines is also allowed. Visit the CDC website for more information.
The obligation to present a negative COVID-19 test, which has been in place since January 2021, will continue to apply. Accordingly, travelers to the USA must present a negative test or proof of an overcome infection that is no more than 72 hours old in addition to their proof of vaccination.
Unvaccinated US citizens will still be allowed to enter the country, but will be subject to an even more stringent testing requirement. They will be required to have tested negative for coronavirus one day prior to entering the US and will be required to test again upon arrival in the United States.
At this time, it has not been determined whether the regulations will also apply to Green Card and visa holders. Whether unvaccinated international travelers will continue to be allowed to enter the country with a National Interest Exception (NIE) is also unclear at this time.
At this time, it is still unknown whether children will be exempt from the vaccination requirement, and if so, up to what age. Exemptions with stricter testing requirements may be possible. Until exact information is known, US authorities are advising against planning family travel for the time being.
